Enigmatic, otherworldly, and thoroughly affecting, Bluebook is a four-piece indie band featuring Julie Davis (upright bass, vocals, loops, lyrics), Jess Parsons (keyboards, vocals), Hayley Helmericks (drums, vocals), and Anna Morsett (guitar , vocals). Processed upright bass, light percussion, distant keyboards, and ethereal guitar combine to support a monumental approach to vocal harmony that conjures the ur-myth of the American Woman. Bluebook “loops rhythmic and melodic bass lines with synth noise to create folk music rooted in blues, gospel and even darkwave....offer[ing] up aching harmonies, using bare-bones instrumentation to support their songs” (The Westword, Kyle Harris).
